Can someone post when the funeral is, please. As, suggested by one member it would a nice tribute to her if we shut the forum down for an hour or two.
So sorry to hear your sad news Roger
I would like to thank everyone who have expressed their condolences, both here and privately.
Sylvia died at midnight on Wednesday in Huercal Overa Hospital, having been in an induced coma for 2 days.
Her children and grandchildren and great grandchildren are in the UK and Sevilla, so were unable to attend. They were on the phone continuously during this time.
Hence the funeral was a very private affair.
Sylvia had been unwell for some time, with skin infections, fevers and breathing difficulty (which the GP diagnosed as asthma).
The GP prescribed paracetamol and codeine for the fever.
I had to demand that the GP organise a blood test, which the local health centre was unable to do, so they sent her to Urgencias.
Within an hour they diagnosed SEPSIS and she spent a week under intense antibiotics.
However when the SEPSIS had cleared the doctor informed me that she would not be able to leave hospital, ever, because she required high doses of oxygen.
The SEPSIS had exacerbated the underlying lung problem, which was not asthma but fluid in the lungs.
She died of pulmonary edema 2 weeks after entering hospital.
During the whole period the medical and nursing staff in the hospital were absolutely incredible.
I would also like to give credit to Sharon Young who stepped in at midnight on the Wednesday to arrange the Tanatorio, Cura Valera, which did everything and removed all pressure from me.
So sorry to hear this sad news Roger.
So sad Roger. Words are not adequate.
Phil, your gesture of a close-down of the Forum to pay respects was great.
Obviously, due to circumstances, the funeral has already taken place.
Maybe you could choose a time and date when you could close the Forum for a couple of hours so we can all pay our silent respect?
Tomorrow Sunday from 12.00 until 2.00pm. Forum will shut down. RIP Sylvia.
Thank you Phil. We will respect the silence.
My sincerest condolences Roger.
Sincere condolences to Roger and the family.
RIP Sylvia
My sincerest condolences to you and all your family
Sadly this was in May 2020
I believe some thought it was recently as the forum was taken down for remembrance Sunday but unfortunately the heading said in respect of sylvia. genuine mistake it seems and hopefully nobody hurt with the sad day being brought back up.
