Not much talk about motorbikes on this forum !!   so here is a little bit of chatter.

Thursday rides on my 125cc Fantic Scrambler are the highlight of my week amid excellent company and here is just a little bit of feedback.

Noticed a bit of ''pulsing'' of the front brake last week so spent today sorting it out., because with only 15HP to play with everything must be at 100% for me to keep up with the bigger bikes.
Bike is Italian (Fantic) with a Japanese engine (Yamaha YZF-R125) but brakes are Chinese (Brembo 4 pot front) with a 320mm front disk.
The original fixed disk was bloody awful and well out of true so I changed it for a similar but floating disk from the 500cc model and set it up as best I could at 1000Kms. Now the bike has done 10,000 kms and some pulsing from the front disk under load so took it apart this morning, cleaned everything and re-assembled all, but could not get the runout much less than 8,000 thou, So much for Chinese quality!!! not good enough however, cleaned everything and the pads are clear and no more pulsing under load during today's 100 kms test run.
I have had a quote from a UK specialist to supply a disk with only 1 thou runout but may well leave this Fantic as is and buy a Yamaha YZF-R125 just for road work but that is another story !!!!

Conclusion: Had to put a paper gasket under 2 of the 6 disk mounting bolts to get the disk to run reasonably true and now no pulsing or drag at each revolution so good enough. Will it make a difference to the Thursday rides? probably not! Will it make a difference to me, yes, knowing that everything is at 100% and it is only a HorsePower limitation that sees other riders pulling away in the distance. Never mind! Thursday riders are polite and considerate enough to wait at strategic points for me to catch up THANKS, and I hasten to add I am not always the last!

My thanks to all the regulars who make Thursday the highlight of my week.
Brilliant fun, brilliant company, THANKS.  :( :(
