what is running at startup- Help

A few days ago as I switched the computer on, something started running and wouldn't allow me access, only very slowly, to other programs. How do I find out what it is? How do I stop/change it? The computer has been switched on for over an hour and whatever it is, it's still running.  A very frustrated Indala.

You can identify programmes and their degree of impact in 'start-up'. And you can disable any of the programmes from automatic start-up.

You can get to 'start-up' through 'Task Manager', which can be accessed simply by holding down 'Ctrl', 'Alt' and 'Delete' keys simultaneously.
