Thanks for the replies, the lead from the fridge was just short by a couple of inches to the main socket outlet but the book doesn't recommend using extension unless earthed, guess we might have to get an electric socket outlet fitted!!!

All normal extension leads will a 3-prong plug and 3-prong socket ARE earthed. For that job you can get a single heavy duty short extension from any ferreteria, e.g., Longos

It will work perfectly and is entirely safe. The non-earthed ones are two-prong only, as used for extending a table lamp. Flattish, connector - not round.

Thanks for the info much appreciated , will have a look in longo

We bought some very good, reasonably priced extension leads with surge protection from the Euronics shop, on the main road, facing the donkey statue.
:tiphat:

Longo's have got a rangd of surge protection leads with I guess somewhere between 3 and 6 sockets on them , some have 2 metre leads and others 3 or 4 , but of course you can extend with an appropriate lead

Are we talking a long extension here (say, 25M) on a roll, or just a short one (couple of M)? You can always get a separate RCD surge protector (or both) and run any lead from those. Multi-sockets with basic surge protection are widely available. If you want full RCD, you may need to visit a "serious" electrical supplier or somewhere like Brico Depot or Leroy Merlin. Most larger ferreterias will have stand-alone units, however.

Can anyone suggest where in Albox that I can purchase an extension lead with power surge protector/earthed ?
