I was so sorry to read of your wife´s accident, and I´m glad she received prompt medical treatment at HO hospital, as indeed I did when I broke my wrist in July.  However, if a Spanish national had had a similar accident in the UK, I wonder how many hospitals would have medical staff to address him/her in Spanish?

I go regularly to see a specialist in Almeria hospital. He is lovely and very kind but the nurse he has working with him is nothing short of ghengis khan. What a nasty piece of work. We always have to wait until all the spanish people have been seen despite being given an appointment time. We also take an interpreter with us even though my husband speaks reasonable spanish, it's not medical spanish. We have got over the initial shock of her nastiness and quite frankly I think she is letting her country down big time.

Hi,

My partner was rushed into hospital two and a half years ago, and he was given one month to live after tests where done, I took a translater with me even though I had reasonable spanish, they spoke to me and not the translator, and I could not fault their compassion, care or thoughtfulness. I did not speak fluent spanish, but I tried in very difficult circumstances, and they tried with me. I cannot fault the health system here, they did all they could physically and paliatively to ease my partners suffering that they could do, and I know had we been in the UK the speed of response to the situation ( 1 hour ) would not have happened.

I've been here for 11yrs and never experienced anything like that although it doesn't surprize me the way that I've heard English people speak to the Spanish.
Re the hospital I was there a few years ago and they saved my life due to their quick action, the doctors and nurses were very kind polite and did all they could to help me.I was in there for a week.

Unfortunately I had to attend the hospital in Baza in an emergency a year after my H/O experience and I recieved exactly the same treat ment.
Polite and very efficient and I was spoken to in both English and Spanish.

My Wife had a accident last Sunday took her to H Overa hospital seen to straight away x ray arm put in plaster.

Nurses execellant very kind couldnt do enough for her however the doctor we seen was very rude and insulting.

As my wife was in agony i took her straight to the hospital , normally would have arranged a translator.
I do speak a little spanish ,we have only been here 10 months and take lessons every week.

Soon as we went into his consulting room he spoke to me in spanish he didnt give me chance to reply.

Then he spoke in perfect English telling us we should not be in Spain unless we spoke Spanish
I did then speak to him Spanish his attitude was appalling sure he would not like someone speaking to his parents in that manor,
Like he did to us.we have quite a few spanish friends found them to be ok also in the cafe ,bars in H overa very
Welcoming anybody else experienced anti English or could it be an isolated incident.
