Title: European driving licence
Post by: HiDi on June 29, 2015, 14:55:43 PM
Hola Maura

We've seen a lot of conflicting views about driving licences. We have recently got medical certificates for driving and been told that we have to go to Almeria to change our licences to Spanish ones. Being over 70 we have received a new European licence from the UK and presumed that was all we needed. Plus we have been told that we can't drive with the new Spanish licence in the UK. Surely if it's a European licence it should be enough to cover both countries.

Hi Di,
Sorry that's a matter for trafico, not the town hall. However, the British Embassy in Madrid has some advice which may be helpful. https://www.gov.uk/living-in-spain#driving-licences-in-spain (https://www.gov.uk/living-in-spain#driving-licences-in-spain)

If you look up www.citizensadvice.org.es and search under "library" you will find all the information you need. Please try to support the CAB here, they are totally voluntary and will be grateful for any donations!
