Title: A rock conspiracy theory
Post by: owdoggy on January 28, 2017, 16:23:44 PM
We all all like a good conspiracy theory right? Well here's one for you ... The Eagles song "Hotel California" was nicked from Jethro Tull or rather the chord progression from a Tull song called "We used to know" was borrowed by Don Henly & the boys according to Ian Anderson from Tull. There's plenty on t'interweb about it if you want to have a quick google

So basically this:

was .... er....inspired by this:

either way they're both cracking tracks.(http://i629.photobucket.com/albums/uu13/owdoggy/Gifs/music.gif) (http://s629.photobucket.com/user/owdoggy/media/Gifs/music.gif.html)

There is an undeniable similarity but that applies to a lot of tunes. With the hundreds of thousands of songs recorded since the 2nd world war it is inconceivable that they could all be totally different. Your last sentence is correct - "both great tracks" - so let's just settle for the fact that we can enjoy them both without worrying about theories that are nothing more than conjecture.
