Windscreen De-icer.

   If you have a garage, and many do, keep your car in it at night, many don't.It seems that expensive cars are left   outside, while comparatively cheap garden tools etc. are stored inside the garage.

You lot need to realise you live in a "warm country" (at least according to Ian Duncan Smith) and don't need de-icers.

hot water mixed with cold water to give warm water applied in a trickle will clear the ice from the screen and also de mist the interior of the glass

That's what I do. A litre of water at 30 degrees C does the job. Boiling water will crack the screen with thermal shock.

NO !! NOT HOT WATER !!!! It will most likely crack the screen , AS for the original poster,why not get your BUM into gear and look around !!!! VERY EASY !!!!????

Doh, just switch on the car and put the heater on the windscreen, job done in 2 minutes.
