Hi

Not sure of the model Roland, it's a TD4 something, but has the mesh heads so not the cheapest. Saw it in a music shop in Cairo where I was buying guitar strings for my lad and sort of "had to" have it, along with the matching Amp.

TBH I've neglected my drumming this last year for which I'm very ashamed - bad back led to laziness led to "Ahh, it's a bit warm in that studio" etc etc

That's what comes from not gigging any more, I guess.

Anyway, popping over sounds like a plan, I'll bring the beers (what's your tipple?)

I'll PM you tomorrow (today is SWMBO's birthday so I'm sort of in slave mode here) and let's talk.

Thanks for putting a smile on this old face!

Cheers

Jim

2jays  I used to have Roland TDKV 11 in my studio, which one you got ? Sounded great for recording and practise/jamming.
Whenever you are ready lets do it, in the meantime you are welcome to pop round and chat/listen to my stuff. Los Carrascos. 643353116

Hi Gregs

Yeah, still got my kits and the offer's a good'un.

Sadly though, can't think about it right now as one of my beloved sons didn't notice that the wood stove wasn't shut properly and all the gear in my non-soundproofed studio (and tools, artwork and and and...) is now absolutely smothered with greasy soot and other cr*p.

With hols coming up I reckon I'll be good to go by maybe Halloween if I'm bleedin' lucky !!

The worst of it is the Roland kit and the amps...dreading tackling those.

Kids, eh?

So anyway, sometime in the Autumn maybe?

Jim

Greggers

2jays.......you still got a kit ? I've a soundproofed air conned studio and loads of guitars and amps if you fancy a jam......blues/rock genre

twojaysalmeria

Now THAT's more like my kinda guitar playing!

Tets - go wash your mouth out with soap ! Vai a jumble of notes?? Good Grief.....

One last thing Gregs - notice the drummer in the Gary vid - at every stop has the habit of choking his H/H even though it's not been played? Us cloggers have some strange habits.

My fav Gary Moore clip.........complete control and wonderful tones.

2jays           check this out for control ?

the problem is with all these types,2 hours concerts and yer end up musically brain dead i saw steve vi in murcia, great showman but it was just a jumble of notes played fast....

the best players ive seen live are slash, gary moore, bonamasa is good but can be repatative but again its all down to taste.

Liked 'Electric Alley' let me know by PM when they are gigging within reasonable distance.
Prefer Malmsteen to the girl's sort of shred style. Absolute master of the guitar. effortless accuracy and speed.

Hey, what do I know, I'm only a drummer.

But...when it comes to the G3 concerts I'm afraid that I sometimes fast forward through Malmstein's solos. To my poor undisciplined ears all I hear is the same old same old super-speed with excellent accuracy arpeggios that he's been doing forever.

And that's boring....

Mind, I stand to be corrected/educated.

As I said, I only hit things.

its all abought amp .

Tets, I've got more valve amps round mine than my Mrs realises. I also make my own which can compete with anything available, Friedman, Bogner, Engl and of course Marshall Plexis which is the benchmark.

Tetley

thing is for us its all abought amps, yer can put a well set up  99e guitar through a set of pedals and a valve amp and it will sound near enough as good as any big name pro stuff

Acoustic guitars however are a diffrent ball game,99e will sound and play like 99e worth very diffrent to a bit of wood and 2 magnets as per the electric guitar.

Although my desert island guitar would be my 1st run mid 80's standard Strat with Bareknuckle mothers milk pups as far as Les Pauls go my original Tokai 'Love Rock' (lawsuit era) with SD Pearly gates at the bridge and SD Alnico II pro neck beats any of the other Gibson LP's I've owned inc a 74' gold top and a early 90's honeyburst standard.

I prefer my Gibson ES335 Pro with coil-tapped humbuckers. An awesome guitar with more tones than anyone could need.

Oooohh Tets - just waiting for Owdoggy to come get you for that heresy!!

And as I think I said before, one of my lads salivates when you just say the word "Ibanez".......

J
If Tets reckons he can make a 50 quid guitar sound good then that's his prerogative but our ears must be very different. The phrase containing "silk purse" and "sow's ear" springs to mind.

I have, and enjoy playing, both guitars. If I get a sudden attack of the Gilmours or Knopflers then it has to be a Strat, nothing else will do. Similarly, if I come down with a bad case of the Kossoffs or Latimers etc. then it has to be a Les Paul.

Which do I prefer?, well I strap the Strat on to play it but the Les Paul just sort of slots in

A good trick on a LP is to run the strings over the top of the tailpiece by inserting the strings from the front. Makes for a looser feel and easier bending as if you had gone down a string gauge.
Prefer the more focused sound of a stacked humbucker in the bridge position on a strat, ( I have 5 strats) ........desert island guitars
