Title: Premier League Chat
Post by: Biggin on August 10, 2018, 22:03:56 PM
Man U top the Premier League    probably the only time this season. Same Old same old Man U get an early goal then let Leicester dictate the game very few chances created got a second goal late in game and then concede in stoppage time.
Don't see them doing anything this year .
Positive Luke Shaw played well I hope Jose gives him a chance

Really boring, typical Morinio play, very defensive and unpleasant to watch. I think a 5th or 6th place this season.

Wolves will be ok, two players from yesterdays team wont be there most of the season, Everton will be in the top 8 this year.

hi Bill

Not disappointed with Wolves performance, a lot of the team have not played together long. then there is Neves, people are raving about him but he did it all last season.

Only scores from outside the box, his passing is his best feature. must be worth a lot more than we paid for him. Wait until Triore gets fit.

I think they will finish half way, anything higher will be a bonus.

Read recently that Man U are for first time in their history looking at appointing a Director of Football - maybe if they do we will get some transfers over the line as Woodward seems incapable of doing so

Target candidates for Manchester United's new director of football role include ex-United keeper Edwin van der Sar, Juventus director Fabio Paratici and Monchi, formerly director at Sevilla and now of Roma

Title: Re: Premier League Chat
Post by: Biggin on August 19, 2018, 18:52:51 PM
Well what a load of crap I just watched Man U v Brighton united very poor second to everything and a defence that leaked like a sieve. Brighton deserved the win as they were the ones that were pushing and winning individual battles. In the second half Man U had loads more possession but as usual did not have a clue what to do with it pass square pass back nothing going in behind.
Jose wanted some New defenders in the transfer window Woodward did not get them after that performance its obvious we need them .
Even Bailly who is usually reliable was a nightmare and could be held responsible for 2 of the goals, in that he gave away a needless corner that resulted in a goal , and then a tackle that he did not need to make resulted in a Penalty.

Continue to play like this then we will be lucky to finish in the top 10 ::)

Thing next week not getting any easier next week as they play Man C at home  I will be predicting an away win

Its a very poor Man Utd, lucky against the Foxes, and found out by the Seagulls. Lucky to finish in the top half this season, but that's Morinio all over.

Angleseyite on yesterday's performance I would not go against what you say top 10 if they are lucky. Against Spurs I think they will go totally defensive and try to hit on the break and hope for a 1-0 win. In honesty don't see them winning this one

Wolves v Man C a very good watch and if Wolves continue to play in this manner they will have no problem in staying up and will give the big teams a real game especially at home , however I am very disappointed that THE HAND OF BOLY denied one of my Fantasy Players a clean sheet

Title: Re: Premier League Chat
Post by: Biggin on September 01, 2018, 17:12:07 PM
Leicester were the better team today but its Liverpool that take the points , Leicester's problem seems to be scoring and they would not have scored today if Allison had not taken a rush of blood to the head he rushed out to the side on thee byline near the edge of 18yd box it was a simple task just to put foot through the ball and clear, but that was to simple so with player behind him he tries to drag it back inside loses the ball which was squared and tapped into an empty net

That idiot just cost me 4 Fantasy Points

Well watched the Chelsea v Liverpool last night great one touch fast football, and I think that is what Man U should be doing but they are no where near that and they are a club in Crisis

Was listening to Rio Ferdinand, and Paul Scholes discussing the Untd game and they were scathing of the Untd performance whilst praising West Ham.

Ferdinand is saying it is now time for the people at the top of the club to make big decisions before it is too late, and these include getting rid of Mourhino/ Pogba  one or both and they also questioned are the players there actually good enough and for me looking through the team how many players would actually start in a City/ Liverpool / Chelsea/ Spurs team I think very few probably for me right now De Gea .

For me it is Mourhino that has to go he has a poor relationship with Woodward and now looks to have lost the dressing room and for a Untd team his tatics are too defensive  and poor,  take yesterday he played 3 at the back and on the right side of that was McTominay a midfielder???

So I agree with Ferdinand something has to be done and quick or Untd will be struggling in the lower half of the league where they are already half way down.

Hello Bill
As a Man united Man you must be pulling your hair out, your comments are true.

Wolves keep winning, what did I tell you
I still think they need a 15 goal a season man, but they are like gold dust

Man united are not a bad team, got to be deeper than that.

Well I wonder what Man U team is going to turn up on Saturday , a go at them team or the usual defensive bore (Defense that's a laugh  )

I think for the first time I have went against them for a win (Predict a score)  but in honesty I just cant see them beating Chelsea especially if they play as they did against Liverpool they will tear Untd apart.

Its City in a few weeks and I am sure I will be going for City win such is the state of Untd these days

What do I want for Christmas ::) ::)  Mourhino to be sacked he is now picking players that he likes and gets on with - nothing to do with ability and he is fast becoming a joke.
Untd need to take action now or they could find themselves fighting off relegation - forget the January transfer window if Mourhino is still there as nobody decent will want to play in that environment

Look  at Fred he spends 50 million buying him and now wont play him because he does not trust his defence!!!!!!!!!!!  sorry Jose you have lost it time to go

What a difference a change of Manager at Man U has made, I know that it was Cardiff and they will face stiffer challenges but this is the first time they have scored 5 goals in a league game since Fergie left - that in itself says something.

It was a pleasure to watch today the shackles off go and attack and how they did that everyone was working  one touch football and mainly going forward, and when the ball was lost working hard to get it back, just so different from the Jose days when it appeared players were afraid to try anything.

Lets hope it continues over the next few weeks and we will see where we can finish up and I think top 4 is achievable. Still work to do in defence but today was a big improvement, with the players playing for the manager and the shirt.

What a difference
Just shows the players can get a manager out.
Never liked him as a manager, just been at top clubs with top players. would like to see him manage a team like Hartlepool and see what he would do.

Man C get the luck tonight in the 2-1 win against Liverpool such are the fine margins. Man C on the night were probably the better team but had their luck at 0-0 Liverpool hit the post it comes out an in the scramble that follows the ball is cleared from the line 10 mm preventing the goal. Man C hit the post and it goes in such is luck , and City's biggest bit of luck was how Kompany stayed on the field after his tackle on Salah in any other game I can guarantee  it would have been a sending off  the ref bottled it

Still it makes for an interesting rest of the season with 4 pts separating the teams

9 changes for Liverpool too much then to lose Lovren in the first few minutes and be replaced by a 16 year old did not help Fair play to Wolves they took their chance however how Shakiri's free kick did not land in the back of the net I do not know

Please God don't let this happen

Manchester United are considering an approach for England boss Gareth Southgate as they continue to search for Jose Mourinho's permanent successor.

Not good enough in my opinion ::)

Now this is a better option

Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone, whose contract with the Spanish club expires in 18 months, is also on Manchester United's shortlist to become their next manager
Title: Re: Premier League Chat

I would think their current stand in manager is making a statement with 6 wins in a row.

Well Ole is certainly making is mark and increasing his chances of being full time Manager. This is virtually the same 11 players that Spurs tore apart at Old Trafford and certainly in the first half we gave them massive problems , certainly in the second half it was almost all Spurs with us giving them the odd reminder we are still a danger.
If Jose had still been in charge then tis team would have collapsed , but now you can see they are playing for the manager, sure we need to strengthen the defence and some other options midfield but continue with that type of performance then top 4 is possible

In saying that Untd probably F***ed up my fantasy team with me having Kane and Son
Title: Re: Premier League Chat

Well a bad night for the Manchester Clubs more so for City than Untd  City losing 2-1 to Newcastle after being 1-0 up after 24 secs  and Untd  fight back from 2-0 down to get a draw .

By all accounts Rashford had a poor game and missed an easy chance in the first half when 0-0  that goes in it is a different game.
Funnily I had an uneasy feeling tonight when I saw the team , and I suppose the victories had to come to an end at some time so possibly a good thing and that will get rid of any complacency that might have been creeping in

Looking like Liverpool have blown their chances of winning the league 2 draws when they should have been winning, looks like the smaller squad is now feeling the strain , and on the defensive injury front, looks like letting Clyne  go in the transfer window was a big mistake.

United started well the other day and for the first 15 minutes were excellent and going a goal up thereafter it look as if they were playing for Jose again crossfield, back passes and pedantic slow and not the quick play that we have come to enjoy under Ole. Passing was poor and there was no press on the opposition. Example Rashford in the first few games he was closing down running wide into space , on Sunday he was  very static in comparison,If they carry on in this manner then they are in for a rude awakening against PSG and Chelsea in the cup

In My opinion, I think Liverpool will blow it and Man city will win the league by 3 points
In the next three years Wolves will be up there.  Only got a small squad compared with those above us, but when he is short brings the kids in.

What a performance from Man U yesterday having lost Matic in training ground injury, they overcame tremendous problems on the park to come away with a draw.
Henderson crocked Rashford in 4 mins  then in the next 20 mins Untd lost Herrera and Mata to injury, on comes Lingard (just back from injury) goes off injured in the 43rd min after bringing out a excellent save from him.

United did have the ball in the net but was marginally offside, Liverpool may have dominated possession but it was united that had the better chances Alison making a number of saves and II cant recall De Gea having to make one.

Ole staking a big claim to that permanent Managers job

Well that's Liverpool blown their chances of winning the league Draws against Leicester, West Ham, Man U and Everton has seen City overtake them , and Klopp coming up with poor excuses yesterday it was the wind to blame and couple of weeks back it was the snow ::) ::) ::)
Really his squad is not big enough and are now running out of Steam especially midfield and upfront.

What about Brendan Rogers first game with Leicester having got their selves level into injury time the play around the back eventually having to pass back to Smeichel  who had a poor kick straight to Watford player who passed it forward to Andre Gray who was between to defenders collected the ball and promptly put it I the back of the net.

Its a personal hate of mine players playing around at the back when not necessary and oh so often get punished

Chelsea can count themselves extremely lucky to get a win at Cardiff despite more possession they were doing nothing and went behind just after the interval. In the game they survived 2 strong Penalty claims a Red card decision (yellow given) and scored an offside Goal not  even close easily 1 yard off how the linesman missed it I do not know then they score the winner in stoppage time.

Cardiff extremely hard done by roll on next season and the use of VAR  if it had been in use here it would have been at the very least a draw
Title: Re: Premier League Chat

I would say that ManU need a bit of luck to finish in the top 4 after last nights game against Wolves. They need to win 5 games out of the last 6 to finish in 4th. Unless Arsenal, Spurs or Chelsea mess up as they all have a game in hand over ManU.
Title: Re: Premier League Chat

yes its going to be interesting by all accounts should have won last night but defensive mistakes and sending off cot Untd dear. It is obvious were Ole needs to strengthen in the summer and that has been obvious for years

Further defensive woes will be suspension of Shaw for reaching 10 bookings. However it is going to be interesting as all the top 6 are meeting teams from that group so all could lose points in the run in , but it will obviously be very hard for Untd to achieve the top 4 , but who would have predicted that Untd would even be in this position considering where they were at Xmas
Title: Re: Premier League Chat

Just looking at Wolves and the points they have dropped I looked at the Current Bottom 6 in the league as of today and they have dropped 19 pts  against these teams and I think they still have to play Fulham

Huddersfield  6pts dropped
Fulham         2pts dropped
Cardiff          3pts dropped
Brighton       2pts dropped
Southampton 3pts dropped
Burnley        3pts dropped

Just think where they would be in the league if they had picked up these 19 pts ::) the answer 3rd or 4th dependent on GD

Well ManU needed the luck to finish in the top four, now a miracle is needed. Interesting point for Biggin. Has Ole lost more games than Mourinho before he was sacked, also is it going the way it went with Mourinho, i.e. getting unpopular with the players maybe, as he is not winning matches anymore.

John I was making the point about the number of points lost against lower teams , that in itself showed how well they have done against the bigger teams.

However that is something they will need to sort out next season this year against the bigger teams they were able toplay on the break something they have done very well but against the lower teams where Wolves have the majority of possession and opponents play for a draw they have been unable to break them down.  So next year find a way to do that and you could be quids in

What a shambles Man U were today it has to be the worst display I have ever seen from a Untd team outfought, outplayed and totally outclassed by Everton today and with the way other results went today missed the chance of going 4th.
Big changes need to be made and there needs to be a clear out that will take 2 or 3 transfer windows to complete. These playesr need to take a good look at themselves yes some may have talent but the effort they are putting in is Zero.
Defeats you can accept but not in this manner Pogba, Martial, Lakuku , Rashford, Matic  all need to really look at themselves none of them was prepared to stand up and take a grip of the game they trotted around is if it was a training match .
Ole now has a problem for Wednesday and I would be tempted to play a couple of the Academy boys at least from them you would get effort.

The way forward Rumour has it Real Madrid are interested in Pogba let him go Lakuku can go as well and there are others holding out on new contracts hoping for more money on this performance there is none of them worth half of what they are earning now.

I still have my doubts about Woodward he has recently given a 5 year contract to Martial and if memory serves me  a short time ago he gave Jones a 5 year contract for me he would be the first out the door.

A few months ago there was talk about a Director of Football this has to happen and sooner rather than later, and in the summer we need a couple of defenders , couple of midfielders and a striker.

Untd will not win the title next year, but have to see it as rebuilding probably for the next couple of seasons, but I would be happy if they are competing in every game and not just going through the motions (as today was) and top 4 finishes would be suffice in this period

Being a big follower of ManU Biggin may have shared my thoughts on the clubs rediculas ups and downs in recent times. Let's say it was the players that got rid of Mourinho through a string of losses, which led to the change of manager. Since his arrival the change was immediate with ten wins in a row. This has been followed by many losses which in many cases the opposition was not up to the standard of ManU. So I ask myself while clutching for a reason. The fans a few years ago were protesting against the owners who were milking the club dry. Could it be the renewed hatred but this time from the players against the Glazier's, who continue to rob the company and give out large loans to family, which will probably be written off.

Just a thought.

Pogba and Son Not Been doing it for me over the last couple of weeks so one free transfer who do I sell given Bournemouths some times génerous defence and Son Not playing mid-week made a good case for keeping him. Pogba has Huddersfield away and Cardiff at home so a good case for keeping him. Very well done to both teams correct me if I am wrong but is this the first all English Final
No I remember Manchester United played Chelsea in a Champions League final in Moscow back in 2008.

Well Man U really F****d up there last games 1 pt off the bottom two teams in the league. Did they give the job to Ole too early. In the last 9 games he has had 5 losses 2 wins 2 draws . If he had started that way I don't think he would have got the job.

I said when he was appointed I did not think he was the right man but he started so well and everyone was raving about the results. however when the results turned he has been unable to stop a bad run .

The top brass now have big decisions to make do they sack him or stick with him back him in the transfer window and see where it goes.

In fairness he has said there will be no quick fix and a number of the Academy boys will be in the pool next season. I think a lot will depend who they are able to sign during the summer.

Another thing that wont help is if they don't get a Director of Football in soon then we will be left with the Useless Mr Woodward .

If all is not going well I think we could be looking for another manager by Xmas. I hope I am wrong

In the news today, Bolton AFC have gone into administration. With the amount of money coming in through the gate I would have thought the administrators could sort something out to keep head above water, at least to pay of the players and the creditors and then wait for a Chinese, Arab or Russian buyer wanting to launder some rubles.

Complaints have been recieved by Uefa from a club or clubs in Europe that ManC have broken financial rules. Allegations come from a series of leaks in a German newspaper. Calls are been made to ban ManC from European competition next year. ManC claim the accusations are false.

Football fans wanting to go to the Champions League final in Madrid are complaining that EasyJet and some others are charging around £1,000 for the flights instead of £250 or less due to demand.
The fans should remember that when they book to fly in future.

It appears that Newcastle are about to be bought by a Sheik from the UAE for £350 million. He tried to buy Liverpool last year for £2 billion. Terms are said to have been agreed and he hopes to complete asap.

That could make Newcastle a very strong team especially if Benitez stays as Manager and they give him a good transfer budget

Well Untd won 4-0 but it was only Chelsea they were playing   but we wont get carried away Chelsea could have been ahead at Half time having hit the post and the bar , but 2nd half much better from Untd But it was an open game and therefore much easier to get behind the defence, against a team that is packing the defence could well be a different story.
However I liked the energy in the team even Pogba was moving quicker but a little to often a bit slack.
Has to be an encouraging start  for the Team
Liverpool & Man C coasted to their wins  , West Ham supporters I would not worry about this result some good football played and you will be okay.
Spurs left it late v Aston Villa but got there in the end , Villa looked good and I think will be difficult to beat
Arsenal were nothing great v Newcastle and got a 1-0 victory for Newcastle I think they will be in trouble this season
Did not see any other games so cannot comment

Last week I wrote this
"Well Untd won 4-0 but it was only Chelsea they were playing   but we wont get carried away Chelsea could have been ahead at Half time having hit the post and the bar , but 2nd half much better from Untd But it was an open game and therefore much easier to get behind the defence, against a team that is packing the defence could well be a different story.

Well this week we played Wolves and that packed defence, waiting to hit on the break, well Untd totally dominated the first half great energy, when we lost the ball there was two /three players onto the Wolves man and we were back in possession the passing was slick and fast but the occasional loose ball from Pogba and McTominay and Lindgard, but for all the possession we only had 3 shots at goal one of which was a well constructed goal .
The second half as expected saw Wolves start at a higher tempo and a well worked corner led to a very good goal and for a while they were putting Untd to the sword but then normal service was resumed  and Untd started to dominate and this resulted in a Penalty kick that was well saved by Patricio although why Pogba took the kick remains a mystery after Rashford scored with one last week.
Just a note on VAR  I thought in the case of where a player was marginally offside that linesman was supposed to keep his flag down and if a goal resulted then VAR would come into play , that unfortunately did not happen last night linesman straight up with his flag and ref blows up . On replays it was questionable if martial was offside ( Think the Linesman was a Wolves supporter )
So Untd let slip 2 pts  but other than that I suppose we can be heartened by the display, its just we must learn how to break down packed defences

Yes Bill they outplayed wolves the first half, but did not take advantage of their dominance, second half was a different game.
VAR, they will  have to sort it out, to long between the decisions, the supporters dont know when to celibate. and if a goal is disallowed they celebrate that more than if they had scored.
I think in time it will be a good thing but dont spoil the game of football
