Ants & Lemon trees

The ants themselves won`t harm the trees, but theres usually a reason, as Frankie says, why they are going on them. One of the main attractions to ants are aphids, the ants actually "farm" these insects on plants and trees because they love the sticky honeydew that the aphids produce, and will even protect them from other insects which feed on the aphids. Suggest you have a really close look at your trees, if aphids are there you can get rid of them and the ants will disappear too. Though you can guarantee they`ll pop up somewhere else in the garden, though it`s not all bad news, they do a similar job to earthworms over here by breaking the soil up underground, though hopefully not as much as Frankie says!
If your not meant to have midnight snacks, why do they put a light in fridges?

I seem to have an issue with ants in my garden with is full of fruit trees.

Do ants hinder the fruit production?

Any tips on keeping them at bay would be helpful, I have pets and children to consider too re any chemicals.
