Hi - sounds like something is stopping the lens from extending fully. Usually this is sand or grit in the lens mechanism or it may have been dropped. It may be possible to fix by trying the tips on the following web page:

http://camerarepair.blogspot.com.es/2007/12/fixing-lens-error-on-digital-camera.html

Also try googling for your camera model plus "lens error" you will probably find many people have had the same issue and if you're lucky fixed it.

Good luck!

hi thank you daveL

have recently replaced batteries for new   ;D ;D

Are you using rechargable batteries? After a while they lose power output, although showing full charge. Try a new set of alkaline with sufficient power before committing to repair. This is what happened to my Fuji a couple of years ago, and new rechargables were bought with no problems since.
