Title: Plum & Pomegranate Trees
Post by: Whinging old git on May 10, 2015, 08:54:57 AM
I have both Plum & Pomegranate Trees which are around 3/4 yrs old.
I water them twice a week with at least 2 full watering cans of water, they both have had lots of fruit this year, but all the fruit is now falling off the trees.
Has anyone got a explanation for this ?. Am I watering to much or not enough.

I dont water mine at all . Once established they dont need it and it encourages the roots to go deep looking for water. The fruit drop may be due to insects . If you have any leaves that look sticky or whatever take them to the place next to Moral Oils with the mural of the man with the gun and show the bloke in the shop he will flog you the requisite pesticide.

The same has been happening to my pomegranate tree since we planted it about 5 years ago. Took one of the flowers down to the English guy in the Saturday market who sells plants he told me the flower hadn't been pollinated by the bees thats why they were falling off. This year we have so many flowers on the tree and have seen bees on the flowers so fingers crossed.
