Another thing Tetley, when everyone has taken their pensions out and blown it, maybe even on helping their kids get onto the housing market, as was suggested by the Tories, what's going to happen when the kids can't pay their mortgage and mum and dad are skint, then the bubble bursts again as we all know it will? Not everyone will reinvest their windfall for their future, but they will have a future, a poverty stricken future. Once again the working classes will be required to pay the cost of benefits for an ever increasing, poor, ageing, population.

Well, after talking to quite a few blokes "dahn the pub" every one that doesn't have a decent pension say they're gonna cash theirs in. To be honest, I didn't know that some pensions were such poor payers :o Anyway, they all seem to be looking forward to getting hold of their dosh and spending it :tiphat:

intresting Jamms,mi mams hubby left a private pension wich pays here 85 quid a month, she has very little savings, and i worked here pension out ,its abought 10k in total then she plays music and makes another 1500 ish,she could bin the music (but she wont.. gets me out luv  ;) ) but the private pension payment takes here out of the council tax and rent help,so hbby would have been better blowing the pension,Mar could have still played the keys for nowt and got the rent payed as i think she is the only one on the block paying full rent & rates.

her out goings as well work out to be around 8500 k ie rent, rates, water, gas, lecky, phone, insurances leaving her 50 quid a week to live on.....

hey ho..spin the wheel... ;)

Trusting Milliband's mob with the economy would be like trusting a teenager with a credit card.

I think you're right, but the public have short memories and many fail to see the correlation between the Tories having to tighten belts and clear up the mess that Labour leaves behind every time they are voted out.

We then get the resentment and the backlash.  I would be surprised if Labour don't get in at the next GE, although Miliband is a bit of a liability and lacks credibility or charisma.

In a few decades, people who choose benefits as a lifestyle rather than a safety net (or those that simply get out more than they contribute in taxes etc.) will outnumber those who actually pay taxes - what will Labour do then?

But according to a Labour adviser people cannot be trusted to spend their own money says it all really.
I have worked for 50 odd years been through thick and thin saved and now some t**t tells me I and thousands like me cant be trusted to look after or spend OUR money properly give me strength.Labour I despise them. :tiphat:

Like I said most can be trusted to blow it, trust me ;D Anyway jabba, if you worked and saved (pension I presume) for 50 years and only have a "small pension" the thousands like you have a problem. That opinion is not based on any political advice from one political advisor, it just entered my head freely :tiphat:

PS There are some Tory MPs that speak a lot of sense and I admire, but I don't judge the whole party by what they say :tiphat:

The bit about releasing small pension funds is a laugh, the only people that benefit from them are the providers. gov.uk say people can have the money out to use or invest as they please ??? most people will blow it and that's exactly what gov.uk want, but I wonder if they'll tax it first  If I had one, I'd stick it in an ISA :tiphat:

Fing is Tetley, The only people to need worry over a "socialist" government are the rich. I love it when I hear working class people, (that's people who rely on a job and are employed by someone) extolling the virtues of right wing politics, coz they often vote themselves out of a job and into a life of poverty ;D I expect the rich to think a bit right, coz they will prevail. I've known so many union members vote themselves onto the dole, it's hard to work it out, but there you go ??? Funny old world innit!!! ;D

Beer hasn't gone up here (in my local) in over nine years

The most important part of the budget was another 1p off a pint of beer. I think it's time for a good p*** up.

The pension changes were a bombshell. Not sure if they have thought this one through! FTSE has dropped 36 points, some annuity company shares have dropped 30%. People at retirement will need more advice now, but the Government thinks they can get the advice for free?

Seems to me that if your rich or low paid or getting near retirement you are or could be better off ........... not bad, I'd say.

**And the 'weak leader betraying his brother' re the 'Magna carter' was the most honest statement IMO.**

Before you reply to that I would stress I consider myself a bit of a socialist as I was a shop steward for NUPE for much of my working life, and believe that Gordon Brown left the present government a shed load of s.... to try to put right, it's taking them too long I agree but I'm convinced that Brown did more damage to the country than had been done by the previous five PM's put together, excluding Mrs T of course!!
It's not great but the budget has given most of us, if we are looking at retirement in the not too distant future, or on a low wage, a bit of good news IMO.

The only good, honest bit about the budget was Ed Miliband's speech  ;D
has he got a stutter, an echo or is it compulsory to repeat every sentence twice??
