At the end of the day........people will show there pleasure /displeasure through the ballot box in May ,i just think its better if there is  a min of two partys standing with youngsters ,hopefully the PP  will get a couple of  seats min and Antonio will be elected to the council were he will gain experience for later years.

I think you need to be sure about this last comment before making it Martin. The forum is busier now than it has ever been with an average of 100 people on it at any one time between the hours of 9.00am and 11.00pm. We are signing up new members every day.

up untill early this year i was never interested in politics and was quite happy to leave it alone
then i noticed some things that where not right in fact quite wrong , thats when i became interested but far too late to register to vote
and further more the forum is not in any way an official form of notification

I think Arboleas looks lovely. As does Albox in parts. As does Huércal-Overa.

If you really want an example of an un-loved and uncared-for looking town that doesn't appear to have any money spent on it for decades, look no further than Zurgena.

There is no doubt that Arboleas looks better and there are many improvements
But who can take the credit for this ?
Some of the work has been financed planned and created by the Andalusian government
And is nothing to do with the Arboleas  council or its members at all
I would say that it is better to look at the whole picture the good things and the bad and then make a decision
It would be very wrong to ignore what the Spanish community are saying
ASK any spanish resident in arboleas (excluding the council members and connected familiy ) what they think of the current mayor then what they think of antonio

I can only say see what you see. This village has improved so much under the present council it is difficult to see how anyone would want to get them out, no matter what political colour you're wearing. !!!!

Interesting PP list in Arboleas.
It is causing a lot of negative comments from the Spanish, in particular PP supporters.

A Belgian Estate Agent from Mojacar who cannot vote in Arboleas.

Then most of the Spanish are youngsters from 2 familes in Venta Mateo.

where did you hear or see this rubbish ? i know a lot of spanish locals and they only have positive comments about antonio and the pp
The english  community in this town should communicate  more with the spanish they know and understand much more than us english ever will about the local area , in all aspects , they know the truth

In my experience, the electoral system here in rural Spain is far from perfect. In 2011 in Partoloa, I actively helped the PA candidate Alejandro. He gained the majority of votes but was pushed out by the "ruling elite " . How is this democracy ?

As for not being able to vote i am devastated that i wont be able to
when i lived in la alfoquia a few years ago  i registered to vote a few weeks before the election
this has changed and now the time to register to vote has pasted
I am told it was in december and as the norm IN THIS AREA  there was no official notification to the locals

Well we have got rid of the 3 million deficit we inherited, AND are now spending 1.5 million on sorting out the years of neglect.
Not stone walls as Antonio has incorrectly published, but tarmac, street lights and sewage connections.
What is wrong with that?

As for IBI (not iba) as I have reported continuously this is set by national government. The test of a local council is how we spend it in a transparent way for the benefit of the community.

Please if we are going to have a grown up debate let us have it by discussing the facts, hearing your alternatives, and without snide remarks.
Although what right you have to even be in this debate when you are not registered to vote in Arboleas.

AS REGARDS LOCL TAXES I have heared different, i heared that the mayor opted  out of this in favour of him and his team deciding the amount of the local taxes

just simply post a  statement on the official arboleas goverment website
then the other poilitcal parties can reply to this and provide proof in the public domain if you make a false statement

The problem with posting on his own website and on this forum is that it is unregulated that means any one can post any thing even lies if they choose
