Problem pageing on pc

When going on the forum I am able to page up and down the subjects using the mouse in the margin or rolling the wheel. However if I select an item with a large number of contributors it freezes on me if I attempt to page down, after a delay the page will move about two items and freeze again.
The cursor will not highlight any logos such as tools etc. It will highlight start and i am able to select different web page that behaves ok. when i go back into the forum its ok at first then freezes again.
Only on one occasion i had the problem on a different web page. I connected a new mouse to a different port but problem remained. I have also scanned for bugs but ok.
This is a new problem and any ideas on how to solve it would be appreciated.
I use windows 7.
