Spose the point could be to get the contracts out while in power, then start making loadsamoney whether HS2 is a good idea or not.  :72: Or is that being a bit too cynical? :32:

Apparently the Birmingham station won't be New Street, where you can connect with other trains, but Curzon Street (wherever that is). Presumably the half hour saved can be spent travelling around Birmingham. I believe they are building another station to serve Birmingham Airport and the exhibition centre. But once again the station will be miles away from Birmingham International and serve no useful purpose. To add to this nonsense the station in Leeds will be half a mile south of the town centre and main railway station. WHAT IS THE POINT.

HS2 is a vanity project. They could improve the existing infrastructure for a fraction of the cost. The money would be better spent elsewhere.

Now you know why The Uk is in trouble with nearly 1/2 trillion  pounds owing or in debt ,56 billion to built a train line. :32:
be better to fill the potholes in and built a few more by-passes and motorways, but then common sense is always missing when it's taxpayers money. :41:

Its going to cost 56 Billion Pounds so that we can get from Birmingham to London, half an hour quicker.
Are we really that pushed for time ??

Would be better spent paying what's owing to leave the EU .There's nothing in Birminham worth getting there 30 minutes quicker.
