I got a Sky HD box on Amazon a couple of years ago for £60, brought it out here with a Sky card from UK and it works fine.If you don't have the Sky card you will still get a fair number of channels, depends what you want.

You can use a Sky box with no card to watch the "free to air" channels like BBC and ITV.
It will basically receive the same channels as a Freesat box.

You have to pay for the Sky pay channels

(Sky News, Pick and Challenge are the only free Sky channels around)

:tiphat: Hi.  I recently noticed that quite a few Sky boxes are advertised for sale on this site and some appear in auctions.  I've been tempted to buy one, but have held back not knowing what I would be buying and what to do with it.  I've no intention of putting money in Murdoch's pocket, so won't subscribe, but does this mean that a Sky box would be of no use to me?

Excuse my iggorance, but I have never used Sky or had anything to do with it before. ::)
