so when itv'd you don't need the trailer on..just the tow bar?

no trailor, just the bar check & lights,

if  a  trailor is over 750kg gross " it can be a"  diffrent ball game, with ITV,raod tax, insurance, opertaing licence for buisness use.... ect

also as CB  has pointed out,if your on a 750kg gross trailor...... dont stick a pallet of blocks or a mini digger on the back, cos traffico have a mobile weigh bridge and its ..........megga money on the overweight fines

There are a few other rarely observed rules:-

SPEED LIMITS

Small Trailer (up to 750kg)

120 kph zone       max 90 kph  min 60 kph
100 kph zone       max 80 kph  min 40 kph
90 kph zone        max 70 kph  min 35 kph
50 kph zone        max 50 kph  min 25 kph

Large trailer (over 750 kg)

120 kph zone       max 80 kph  min 60 kph
100 kph zone       max 80 kph  min 40 kph
90 kph zone        max 70 kph  min 35 kph
50 kph zone        max 50 kph  min 25 kph

Also if towing a trailer you get higher priority at unmarked junctions

Cowboy Builder

A Trailer rated at 750kg does not mean it can carry 750 kg .
750kg is the gross weight of the trailer and its load ,so if the trailer weight is 200kg ,your load can only be a max of 550kgs, exceed it and you can kiss up to  2 grand goodbye if caught .

Greetings,
Does anyone know the rules and regulations with regards to towing a trailer with a vehicle on Spanish plates.

               Zuluwarrier

towbar must be ITV,d reg on the green tecnico car doc
the insurance co needs to be advised.... so you have tow cover

trailer spainish reg
750kg

green tecnico sheet/reg sheet

trailor MUST have manufactures ID plate clearly visable

fire extinguisher in car.

do not use any trailor without spanish paperwork...... no matter what your told.... as if pulled.... they will bin yer for 2k

brit plates, you can tow anything ,ie chuck an ifor williams on the back of yer motor with a mini digger on ( best to be ligal tho,ie non res all taxed & motd up )

trailors are expensive here,do not buy a cheap one were the green log books been..........lost.....problems.

also get a full written recipt from the seller with passport copy & nie copy..... just in case some nit cracks on yev got there trailor.

when you buy,bin the tyres unles you know there new as the sun/heat bxggers em up,decent new tyres are abought 45e each, and not worth a nasty blow out.
