We have several large Aloe Vera plants where the centre seems to have rotted away, effectively killing them.
anybody know the cause and prevention to protect the other plants.
(Never water them so it's not overwatering).
We have exactly the same problem. Three of our large plants have died.
This is normal for thos plant. You will find lots of plantlets growing around the Base of the parent plant. This happens after the parent plant grows a central spike that flowers and then dies.
Are you sure we are talking about Aloe Veras and not Agave cactus.
Agave cactus have problems with the Agave snout nosed beetle (Scyphophorus acupunctatus) that infest the plant and the eventual death.
