I need to obtain a 3/8" left hand threaded nut. Has anyone got one in their toolkit or know where I can get one, please? I will give 5 euros for one! Please PM me if you can help.
You need to know what thread it is also. the only places that I could suggest would be up here .
Hemasur , on the Saprelorca industrial estate. ( Where the Lorca itv station is ) & a firm called Respuestas Murcia , On the Los Peñones poligono in Lorca.

Could always try Tetley I believe he 's got boxes of odd sized nuts! He gets 'em out up the 'Blue Oyster Club' I'm told.

It is for the main drive shaft of a Record Lathe. The shaft is !/2"" diameter and for some reason the end part has been milled down to take a 3/8" thread. Normally this would have been an 1/2" nut which Record can supply. It is difficult to say what the thread is and I would have to take the spindle to the nut to see if it married up.
I guessed Gus and Steve would come up with suggestions and I thank them for that.
Hi
My Dad has pondered this and suggests anywhere that supplies machinery that spins, but its the size you may struggle with, Belzunes in Huercal overa do many types of machinery and spare parts you could try there, it is on the bottom road of huercal overa. He will also check his tool box. ;D ( try a part off a part off a Stihl streamer !!!
Good Luck
Surely there are enough nuts on the Forum to find what you want????

you could try a turnbuckle in local ferreterias. cut the threaded end of and fashion into a nut. you might be lucky.

I've just put a 'bush cutter' onto a Sthil strimmer, and this needed a l/h thread nut, about 3/8, but what thread is, I don't know, sorry.

Is this the point in the conversation when all us "manly" men go off to the pub in our lumberjack shirts, because, if it is, I´m afraid I can´t play out - I haven´t a clue what you´re all talking about, but it´s obviously an enjoyable pastime....

Its all about back peddling mudguards, fleurgal pins and counter rotating spigoterals !
I do hope that helps you out

Thank you Woden. I will be able to sleep easy tonight knowing all that - now where´s my stamp collection......
Thank you everyone. I shall start by taking the shaft to Longos as ColinC suggested. I am also very grateful to Rach for identifying a UK site that specialises in LH threaded nuts and says she is willing to organise one for me. if I am unsuccessful at Longos. I must also acknowledge the interest of Record and their assistance in the problems that I have experienced.
