Tonight's pleno meeting has been cancelled and so has the protest. Due to meeting with some of the councillors 7am this morning, and a lot of lobbying from property owners, all councillors were going to vote against annulling the agreement so the Mayor has cancelled the meeting.

It is also not the facts published today in the Voz de Almeria.

It states that the Ayuntamiento today will be presenting to a public Pleno a proposal to ask the Consejo Consultivo fe Andalucia to cancel an agreement signed in 1993 because it has not been working. In consequence there are 35 houses still on temporary electric because the  developer has not finished the infrastructure.
The house owners have paid 200,000 euros each year to maintain the system while the developer has paid virtually nothing.
The Mayor has stated that if the agreement is cancelled the developer will have to pay more than half of the 200,000 euros annual mainatenance cost.
Under the agreement the house owners have 25% vote while the developer has 45% vote, while the hose owners are paying 95% of the cost.

It sounds like a total mess.
I think that this is a private urbanisation so not sure what the powers of the Town Hall are.
Certainly there is no way the Town Hall can seize the properties.
This would have to go to court and it seems from the report that the problem is between the hosue owners and the developer.

Fellow Ex-Pats need our help! Tomorrow night the temporary mayor of Turre is holding an unpublished meeting to endeavour to overturn a Cabrera residents/Junta agreement. If he's successful this means it will make property owners responsible for the infrastructure themselves, i.e. having to pay for what the developers should have. It has been said to one Cabrera resident, that if a resident was unable to pay, the town hall would sequestrate his property and land and sell it to pay off the debt. If it goes through some homes would have a debt for infrastructure of €32,500 payable to the town hall. If you want to join your Cabrera countrymen and show solidarity in opposition to this, then they will be meeting 20:30 hrs at Turre Town Hall and any support will be gratefully received.
