nobody has mentioned economy 7 using off peak electricity, the new heaters are supposed to be much more efficient, what is the cost compared to oil and pellet burners to run and install. At the moment I use my air con units in each room to heat and cool plus a log burner which keeps the house toasty, the air con I found fairly economical especially when combined with off peak electric

I had ours linked in the UK but when oil got expensive we binned the oil and i made a 6kw heater tube that i put in line and used to tun it on during e7 night tarrifs, this was a few year back now thou,so i would have thought it should be still do able with a bit of tecno plumbing lol

(i think also they use LPG linked Boiler to back boiler fire here as well, )

Oil linked to solid fuel?, Sounds a nightmare to me Tets would you need pumps, pressure relief valves, expansion vessels and diverter valves?
Stick with a traditional stove with back boiler and water tank or consider a thermal store that can link in stove, solar and ground source.

Log burner with back boiler if poss fan assisted best of all worlds ie yer can burn logs & waste wood  or if yer have plenty of coin and yer not bothered abought oil price movments, oil boiler or if you want to go real tecno link an oil boiler up to a log burner with back boiler then you have heating on timer and if you do fancy an open fire this will then take over from the oil boiler.

Definitely oil. You can turn it on and off instantly. With pellets, you still have to clean it out! We have the normal three bed, two bath villa and the oil costs about 500 - 600 euros a year. In the winter, the heating usually comes on at about 4.00pm and then goes off at about 11.00pm. On the very cold winter days, we turn the heating on at lunchtime. It also heats the domestic hot water all through the year.

I appreciate its not that time of year yet but I am trying to decide which system would be best. Oil or pellets so would be grateful if any of you people out there that have either system could give me a any pros, cons or advice. Thanks.
