Nice pictures but it is not a monarch butterfly (which live in North America) it's a swallowtail butterfly.

noticed a chrysilis hanging below the window sill ages ago and been keeping a watch on it, it hatched yesterday and I spent an hour watching this beautiful monarch butterfly emerge and dry its wings before it flew off. Isnt nature wonderful!
