Swimming pool stone edging

My husband paints our edging every year with special paint which he has made up at Andres Valero in Mojacar.

Don't really mean to hijack this post, but does anyone know if the concrete edging/surround can be stained, maybe with pointing compound.  I'd like it to be a warmer colour rather than the bland pale grey.  Thank you.
