My husband had his operation for his eye,in November, he was waiting eight months. Which we thought was not  too bad.
They did an excellent job on his eye.  And is very pleased with the result.

May I ask you to PM me with the cost. I agree with you that your sight is too important .
TIA

Thanks all. I bit the bullet and went privately with Dr Gomez of VeraVision. Brilliant.... All done on eye number 1 and already, after 48 hours, vision is like I had 30 years ago. Can't wait for other one now. Hopefully within next two or three weeks. Life is too short, and sight too precious to wait up to 18 months when you're almost 80. Cheers everyone.

My interpreter is very good at finding out about our appointments. She's on the ball all the time.

Please be aware, for any procedure, if you are booked in for any follow ups, they get really peed off if you don't make it. You'll go to the back of the queue.

My wife has been waiting 16 months for an appointment on the national health system to see an eye specialist and having asked our GP several times about this wait he said we were still on the system and just had to wait.

My husband waited about 7 months and I waited about 5 months. Eric had his in Huercal Overa and I had my first one in Virgin del Mar private clinics paid for by the Spanish health system and my second one in Huercal Overa. Both my husband and I had extremely efficient treatment and had no problems whatsoever. The follow up appointments were problem free. Therefore I have no problem recommending the Spanish health system rather than paying out thousands to get the same treatment.

Hi, I had a cataract op last July at H/O hospital. Excellent and effective treatment by an all female team.  Was a bit anxious but it was fine.  I had to wait about a year from being referred by my GP. I went back to the hospital the next day to be checked and was meant to go back a month later but couldn't attend on the day they wanted me there in October as I was in England. My GP did another referral for me but I still haven't heard from H/O, not so impressive! I will discuss this with my GP when I return from England in April and see what happens, if anything! Good luck to anyone having this op, the results are wonderful!
Always maintain the Status Quo!!

If you search the forum you'll see that a lot of people get it done privately rather than wait ages

Has anyone any idea what the waiting time is for cataract surgery is? Thank you
