flying bugs on roses

Could be wrong, but I think you might find they are actually Coptocephala scopolina, a leaf beetle that LOVES rose petals, especially yellow ones.

If you want to see a photo, just Google it's name and search images.

These are called firebugs and they don`t feed on roses. Their normal diet is the seeds of mallows and lime trees. They will however attack other insects, and I think that the probable cause of your roses not opening is that they`ve been attacked by aphids. And those are what the firebugs are attracted to. Try taking a closer look, and if you see any aphids and get rid of them, then the firebugs will dissappear too. If you want to look up the information on them on the internet, type in Pyrrocoris Apterus on one of the search engines.

I am to gardening as chocolate is to teapots. But all I could recommend would be to take a sample into a good garden centre and ask their advice.

Had an infestation on a peach tree and it worked for me.

help my roses are under attack from ladybird type bugs long body red with two block spots does anybody know what they are and how to rid of them
my rose buds will not open i have trie spray but no luck yet, peter. :tiphat:
